Saffron Walden (Seniors)

Club Night (for ages 14+) are held on Mondays from 8.15-9.30 pm at Dame Johanne Bradbury's School, Ashdon Road.  All abilities are welcome, even if you haven't played for years!

Saffron Walden's first team retained their Premiership position for the 2008/09 season finishing fifth in 2007/08, in the Bishop's Stortford League. Congratulations to Caroline Hibell who was voted Player of the Year for the Premier Division.

In June 2008 the team, once again, competed in the Pontins (Hemsby) netball tournament. In 2007 they won the plate title, but this time they did really well and progressed into the Cup. The competition was very tough, but they got through to the quarter finals, where they were beaten by a very strong Crystal Palace side. So, although they didn't come back with silverware this time, coming in the top 8 out of 50 was a fantastic achievement. Well done girls!!

The club's second team remain in Division 2. They had a very mixed season and finished in sixth place. The team are looking for new members for 2008/09, as three players have moved to pastures new and one is on maternity leave. So, if you want to play competitve netball contact the club via players@swnc.net.

Good luck to both teams!
